2. VIN Lookup Privacy & Data Security
Standard automotive lookup platforms record searched VINs into proprietary marketing databases, vehicle history lead funnels, and car dealership remarketing lists.
FastVIN takes the opposite approach:
- Local In-Memory Decoding: When you input a 17-character VIN, the decoding logic, Modulo 11 checksum calculation, and manufacturer specifications are computed directly in your browser's memory using JavaScript.
- No Server Database Logging: We do not store, catalog, or transmit your vehicle serial number to any private server database.
- Local History Storage Only: If you utilize the "Recent Decodes" feature, records are stored exclusively inside your browser's private
localStorageon your physical device. You can erase this history instantly with the "Clear History" button. - Public Database Enquiries: For vehicle makes outside our deep client-side engine, optional queries are made directly to the public US Department of Transportation NHTSA vPIC API. No personal identifiers are passed.
3. Advertising & Google AdSense Disclosure
To keep this service free without charging per-lookup subscription fees, we display advertisements via Google AdSense. Google uses cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on visits to this site and other websites across the Internet.
We strictly uphold Google's publisher policies: ads are never loaded on empty input boxes, loading animations, or error screens. You can opt out of personalized interest-based advertising at any time by visiting Google Ads Settings or AboutAds.info.
